4/12/12 - Score for feature film "Desperate Acts of Magic" Complete
Bruce has just completed the score for the feature film, "Desperate Acts of Magic." This dramatic comedy set in the world of Los Angeles' professional magicians completed live sessions this week and delivered to the filmmakers. Samples to the music player coming soon.
9/28/11 - Bruce completes score to short film "Final Acts"
This week Bruce composed and recorded the score to the short film "Final Acts" directed by frequent collaborator James Kicklighter. Upong hearing the music for the final scene, the director called it "absolutely stunning" and wrote "I just recieved what possibly could be the best cue Bruce Kiesling has ever scored for JamesWorks Entertainment and we're on our fourth collaboration now." Looking forward to the premiere!
9/1/11 - Bruce working on series of animated shorts
Bruce has completed work on the first of four animated shorts for regular collaborators The Gillder Frontier. More info on this exciting and brilliantly animated project coming soon.
7/25/11 - Bruce and YOLA appear on "The Tonight Show" and at the Hollywood Bowl with Stevie Wonder
Last week Bruce performed with selected YOLA members on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" playing the song "What's Goin' On" with Ricky Minor, Grace Potter and others. Sunday evening, the song was repeated at the Hollywood Bowl with Stevie Wonder, Ricky Minor and the rest of the crew with the entire YOLA EXPO Orchestra....over 120 members onstage at the bowl. Great times had by all.
6/15/11 - "StaleMate" wins Best Picture in NYC and screens at Dances with Films Festival in Los Angeles
"StaleMate" just won Best Picture at the Staten Island Film Festival in New York City, www.sifilmfestival.org (selected from a field of 50 screened films chosen from over 1500 applicants) and recently screened at the Dances with Films festival in Los Angeles. www.danceswithfilms.com
4/15/11 - "Followed" and other news
"Followed" won the Audience Choice Award at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth and "Land of Higher Peace" won the "Indie" award of merit. "Followed" was also recently reviewed on www.dailyfilmfix.com and was also written up in the Austrailian film magazine Film Ink.
08/13/10 - "A Very Potter Sequel" gets more coverage
"A Very Potter Sequel" (for which Bruce served as musical director and pianist) was named a "Must See" by Entertainment Weekly today, and currently is a top fifty album download on itunes.
08/02/10 - Bruce joins Jason Alexander and Lonny Price for "Song"
Bruce has joined the cast and crew of Reprise Theatre Co's production of THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG starring Jason Alexander. Lonny Price directs this production which opens the end of September. More information and tickets can be found at www.reprise.org
7/09/10 - Music for "Land of Higher Peace" completed
Bruce just completed the score for the Ethiopian documentary "Land of Higher Peace." This moving portrait co-produced by Mark Ezra Stokes and James Kicklighter ("Di Passaggio") profiles the daily struggles in the small Ethiopian village of Gondar, as seen through the eyes of a group of American missionaries.
03/05/10 - "En Route" scoring completed
Recording of live musicians for "En Route" was completed today. The score will be edited and combined with electronic elements before the final mix is delivered next week. Directed by Colin Levy. More soon on this very promising short film.
9/09/09 - LA Phil/YOLA program
Bruce was named conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) program at the EXPO Center. The orchestra has already performed at both the Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Concert Hall with the LA Phil's new Music Director Gustavo Dudamel.
09/01/09 - "Wesley" Completed
Composition and live recording of the orchestra for the period feature has been completed. The orchestra was outstanding in the series of seven days of recording sessions. Samples are avaiilable on the music player page.
05/08/09 - "1915" Finalist for Student Academy Award
"1915" is a Finalist for the 2009 Student Academy Awards,. The film was also the winner of the Director's Guild of America Award for Best Student Director, received a Gold Coast Award from the Hollywood East Film Festival, and will screen at the Tupelo Film Festival and Beaufort International Film Festival.
